What’s Happening at Central Square – August 23, 2010
Central Square has a wildly funny and enjoyable musical theater production on stage this coming weekend with Don’t’ Hug Me County Fair, a professionally performed show, written by Phil Olson. It’s the story of the townspeople in Bunyon Bay during their county fair time. There will be humor, a touching love story, singing, dancing and a guaranteed good time. Tickets are $18, but coupons offer a $3.00 discount if you mention you read about it in this article. For reserved seating, call Central Square at 320-634-0400.
Next on stage after that is the Legends of Country Music, with shows on Thursday, September 9 and Friday, September 10th at 7:30pm. The concert is a tribute to the greatest country music artists in American musical history. There are songs of Johnny Cash, Conway Twitty, Merle Haggart, Patsy Cline, Willie Nelson and many others included in the show. Tickets are only $16 in advance, or $20 at the door. Up after that will be The Mushroom Picker to be presented on Sunday, September 26 at 7:00pm. It’s a fascinating and unforgettable one man play which tells the true story of a Czech American soldier who fought in WWII and helped liberate the village of his family’s homeland in Czechoslovakia. He becomes a hero. The play is performed by the soldier's grandson and includes fascinating storytelling and visual images. Tickets are $15 for adults and $5.00 for students.
The Love Knot, is a romantic comedy stage play about love and marriage, age and image, growing up and settling down, which will be performed at Central Square on Thursday, October 9th at 7:30pm. You won’t want to miss this professionally produced theater production on its premier tour. We are currently taking reservations by phone. Call the office at 320-634-0400. The 2010-11 Concert Series VIII programs and performances are almost all in place. There will be concerts theater productions, dance and entertainment for the whole family that is seldom seen on stage. Watch for more information.
